So if the cost of online MBA study is your primary consideration, where should you look - where are the cheapest online MBA programs?
The US does not provide the cheapest online MBA programs in the world but if you're only in the market for US providers, check out the current top 10 cheapest US providers on our cheapest online MBA page.
Factors that influence US costs include accreditation, geographic region and whether the provider is a non-profit or for-profit organisation.
As a general rule, the cheaper online MBA's tend to be accredited by the UK-based Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), as a cautionary tale, this accreditation is not as highly regarded or as widely recognised as the AACSB. Few DETC institutions are bricks-and-mortar campuses.
Focusing on the US, regionally accredited public institutions based in the south or mid-west offer the most competitive prices - a few come in at under $10,000.
Looking at the rest of the world: the clear winner is India. If you're not too bothered by the lack of a prominent accrediting body, then an online MBA can be obtained for under $2,000 (for example Don Bosco University, India).
